Accelerating automation
Monday, 16 February 2015

Having secured a CHF 30 million contract to supply carbon fibre-based automotive body panels in January, Zurich-headquartered Gurit is to merge its Engineered Structures and Automotive businesses into the new Composite Components business unit.?

This will be focused on land transportation component applications in the premium automotive, bus and rail markets.?

The company will transform the automotive section of its facility in Newport on the Isle of Wight into a technology centre with product development, prototyping and the production of smaller volume speciality manufactured components. The company?s Hungarian site ? which started operations in 2014 ? will become more of a volume manufacturing site for pressed and manual components, with a higher degree of automated production lines and technologies.?
