Carbon parts in 30 seconds
Thursday, 26 March 2015

In 2014 Dow Automotive Systems introduced commercial its ultra-fast, under-90-second moulding cycle time Voraforce 5300 resin formulation for carbon fibre composites. This year, the company is announcing a new record-breaking, under-60-second moulding cycle time for the epoxy resin matrix and says it expects to get down to 30 seconds before the end of 2015.?

?Our novel formulation enables ultra-fast infusion and curing, while its super low viscosity also increases part consolidation potential in structural automotive composite production,? said global strategic marketing manager Peter Cate in a presentation at the recent JEC Composites show in Paris. ?With this new system we can meet the demand of automotive OEMs to achieve affordable light-weight manufacture of true high volume part production. And in 2015, we?re present an advanced level of it with higher thermal performance, molding cycle times of around 30 seconds and further flexibility advances, solving critical customer manufacturing issues.??
